It was a full night of basketball at SLAM in Valley Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night. The 6th grade boys opened up the trilogy of games by pressuring their way past the LMCA Eagles team to open the night with a win. Solid defense and timely buckets got the game under control early and the boys maintained their lead throughout the second half. The Middle School Lady Bulls 2 squad followed suit by working past the Lady Eagles in the second game of the night. Jaiden Renne and Angelina Ortega pounded the glass down inside as Gigi Brandenburg ran the show up top to pull away midway through the first half and cruise to a comfortable victory. The game of the night turned out to be the SLAM! Toros 7th graders squeaking past the Middle School Eagles squad from LMCA in overtime. Down by 6 at halftime, the feisty group of 7th graders scratched and clawed their way back into the game with some clutch three pointers from Daniel Nevil and Q’Ronn Brown while RJ Tiggs created opportunities on the defensive side with steal after steal. LMCA hit two free throws to tie the game late in regulation. The back and forth affair came down to RJ Tiggs working his way into the lane and feeding Josh Miranda for the game winning layup as time expired. It was a classic drive, draw and dish maneuver from RJ that provided the SLAM 7th graders with a thrilling victory. Great job everyone! Go Bulls!
