Bulls News · Bulls Split Games at Desert Hills and Pine View

SLAM! Bulls Baseball was in Utah on Saturday for two games, going 1-1 on the day. The Bulls started the day at Desert Hills HS to take on the Thunder’s JV squad. Donovan Escobar was stellar on the mound allowing only one run through the first 5 2/3 innings. The Thunder erupted for 4 runs with two out in the bottom of the sixth to steal a win from the Bulls 5-1. The boys then traveled up the road to take on the 2015 and 2016 Utah State Champions from Pine View. Austin Martin got things going in the first inning doubling in Ozzy Zawislak. The Bulls would add runs in each of the first three innings to take a 5-2 lead. The Panthers were able to take advantage of a poor fourth inning from the Bulls a stake a 6-5 lead. A scoreless sixth inning set the stage for freshman Ashton Awai in the sixth. With the bases loaded and 2 out, Awai punched a crisp line drive over the second baseman plating two runs and giving the Bulls the lead. The boys tacked on another run in the final frame and Anthony Kopecky came on to shut down Pine View at the plate and secure the win. Go Bulls!
